1. Who we are.
The Oil Insurgency (“TOI,” “we,” “our”) is the commercial brand of Del Llano Farms, a Colombian agricultural and palm-oil sales company. Our website operates from this domain and is the data controller for the personal information collected through it.

2. What we collect.
We collect only what you give us, plus minimal technical data needed to operate the site.
- Information you submit: name, work email, company, role, industry, estimated volume, and any free-text message you include when you request a sample, spec sheet, or quote.
- Newsletter subscription: if you sign up for The Insurgency Briefing, we store your email address until you unsubscribe.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited, and time of visit — collected through standard web server logs and analytics (see Cookies below).
We do not collect payment information, government IDs, or any data classified as “sensitive” under GDPR Article 9 or CCPA §1798.140(ae) through this website.
3. Why we collect it.
- To respond to your inquiry — sample requests, quotes, technical questions. (Legal basis: legitimate interest / pre-contractual measures under GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).)
- To send you the newsletter you specifically opted into. (Legal basis: consent under GDPR Art. 6(1)(a). Withdrawable at any time.)
- To understand site usage in aggregate — which pages are read, which articles are shared, which CTAs convert. (Legal basis: legitimate interest in product improvement.)
- To meet legal obligations — tax, export-documentation, food-safety record-keeping where relevant to B2B commercial transactions.
4. Cookies & analytics.
This site uses minimal cookies:
- Strictly necessary: session cookies to preserve form state and a few CSS preferences. These do not require consent under EU ePrivacy.
- Analytics: we may use a privacy-respecting analytics provider (Plausible, Fathom, or similar) that does not use third-party tracking cookies and does not require a cookie banner. If we ever add a provider that does (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.) we will update this page and add a consent banner.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party social-media tracking.
5. Who we share it with.
We share your information only with:
- Our form processing provider (currently Formspree) — which delivers form submissions to our sales inbox. Their privacy policy is at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy/.
- Our email service (for the newsletter), if and when configured.
- Our hosting provider (server logs only).
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
6. How long we keep it.
- Form submissions: indefinitely while the commercial relationship is active, then archived for a maximum of 7 years for tax and audit purposes, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: 30 days, then deleted.
7. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA).
If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, California, or Brazil, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your data (right to erasure)
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time for processing that relied on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Security.
We use industry-standard measures: HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted-at-rest storage by our hosting provider, access controls on our internal systems, and minimal data retention. We are not a healthcare or financial institution and do not handle data of that sensitivity; the security framework is calibrated accordingly.
9. Changes to this policy.
If we change this policy materially, we will update the effective date at the top and notify newsletter subscribers by email. Minor wording changes (typos, clarifications) will not trigger notification.
